Our programmes and our policy work tackle the underlying causes of poverty so that people can become self-sufficient. We place special focus on empowering women and girls because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to lift whole families and communities out of poverty.

Bobath therapists are state-registered and work together as a team to combine these disciplines to give each child the skills to explore their world, communicate their needs, maximise their potential and so improve their quality of life.

At Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales we focus on the ability and not the disability.

Beating Bowl Cancer

Beating Bowel Cancer is the support and campaigning charity for everyone affected by bowel cancer.

We provide vital practical and emotional help – on the phone, digitally and face to face. We’re proud to run the UK’s only nurse-led specialist helpline for bowel cancer which patients call a ‘lifeline’.

We bring patients with bowel cancer together to share invaluable experience and support, through our website, social media and major events.

Our high impact campaigns have led to the introduction of the bowel cancer screening programme, which is helping save lives, as well as new funding and greater patient access to life-changing cancer treatments.

Ambitious about Autism

We are the national charity for children and young people with autism. We provide services, raise awareness and understanding, and campaign for change. Our vision is to make the ordinary possible for children and young people with autism and our mission is to help them to learn, thrive and achieve. Through TreeHouse School and Ambitious College we offer specialist education and support.

Ambitious about Autism was founded as TreeHouse in 1997. It was founded as a specialist school for children with autism, with five pupils and based in a borrowed room in the Royal Free Hospital in North London. Since then, Ambitious about Autism has been growing and developing into the national charity that it is today, which provides services, raises awareness and influences policy. We moved to Muswell Hill, north London, in 2004, and moved into our purpose designed building – the Pears National Centre for Autism Education – in October 2008.

Ambitious about Autism is now looking to the future, and our new ambitions for children and young people with autism and their families.

Developing better, safer medicines and treatments for children

Most medicines used in the UK and internationally have not been developed specifically for children, even though children and young people are the most frequent users of healthcare in the UK. We are working to develop effective, safer and more appropriate medicines specifically designed for children, and which are easy for children to take (for example, syrups that taste good).

The research we undertake is nationally and internationally recognised. Our track record has led to Alder Hey being the home of children’s research for the whole country and we host a number of centres of excellence, meaning our research is the very best. Our research crosses many specialisms including childhood infections, respiratory disorders, cancer, neuro-disability, international health and musculoskeletal diseases.
